Live In The Present

It has been my experience that most of us (including myself) are waiting for some event to happen, then we'll finally be happy.

Like "When I'm rich, then I'll be happy!" or, "When I get my dream job I'll be happy!" etc...

People always living in the future or past. Not being here, right now!

See, we are here, right now! We have to become aware of the present. We have to start living in today's world. Not some far away place. But right here, right now! We have to relish the current moment, our current feelings, good or bad, and be aware that what we are feeling at the moment is a message we have to pay attention to.

Once we have achieved a state of awareness of being in the present, we should notice a change in ourself.

We'll start seeing things for what they really are.

We'll see that love and beauty are all around us.

Have you achieved this state of awareness?

I often live in the future. I tend to visualize myself and my partner with all our dreams unfolding in the future. But sometimes, when I really enjoy the "present" I pinch myself and tell myself "you're alive and you're here." Funny, but it's what I do to appreciate my present. I guess I should keep a minimum balance between enjoying the present and looking forward in the future.

Hi gigi, you have used the right word - "balance".

Enjoying the present and looking forward to the future are equally important. =)
