What is Bing?

Posted by Louis | Sunday, June 07, 2009 | | 0 comments »

You may have seen this word "Bing" floating around the net for the past few weeks.

So, what is Bing?

Microsoft has unveiled a search engine, Bing with a slate of convenient features, in its bid to beat Google.

After searching a few terms with Bing, I still feel Google has better search power.  Bing's search results are scratching the surface of the web pages and not as in-depth as Google.

However, Bing has included an "autoplay" tool under their Videos search, that lets users preview videos simply by hovering a mouse over them.

Head over to Bing, try it and tell me what you think.

RSS (most commonly translated as "Really Simple Syndication") is a type of Web feed formats. It is used to publish frequently updated works, such as blog entries, news headlines etc.

The important point is - We can use Google Reader to gather all the blogs that we are following under one roof.

You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can go through a truckload of blogs using Google Reader, instead of going through your bookmarks of blogs.

Sign in Google Reader using your Gmail account details.

Click on "Add a subscription".

Type the URL of the blog that you are following.

Then "Add".

Now you can easily scan the new entries of your favourite blogs inside your Google Reader.

Yahoo! mail offering new domains

Posted by Louis | Saturday, June 21, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Yahoo! is adding two e-mail domains—ymail.com and rocketmail.com.

Yahoo has more than 260 million subscribers to Yahoo.com. So, new subscribers are forced to create weird user names. The new domains will allow many more options.

The ymail.com domain is brand new for Yahoo.

Rocketmail, however, stems from the 1997 acquisition of the RocketMail Web mail service. It was one of the first major free services, and it became the engine for Yahoo Mail.
